BELLAIRE, Texas -- Bellaire police chased a driver into west Houston early Friday where he told him he had an anxiety attack after they tried to stop him on the West Loop.

It happened around 4 a.m. Friday.

Police tried to stop a BMW for speeding northbound on the West Loop. The driver allegedly refused to stop and got onto the Katy Freeway westbound.

Eventually the suspect and his passenger crashed on the frontage road at Blalock. Both jumped out and ran, but the driver was caught and arrested.

The driver told police he had an anxiety attack and that’s why he didn’t stop, but officers said during the pursuit they saw several things thrown out of the car.

The passenger was not located.
