HOUSTON -- As is tradition at Chick-fil-A grand openings, dozens of Houstonians camped out for a free year-long supply of meals early Thursday.
The new restaurant is located along the North Loop near Yale Street.
Chick-fil-A gave away several prizes to those who pitched a tent overnight, including a one-year supply of meals for the first 100 people in line.
The company says more than $21.5 million in free food has been given away in the past 10 years of its grand opening giveaways. The “First 100” celebrations, as they're known, have turned the parking lots at their new restaurants into a “friendly party" leading up to the doors opening at 6 a.m.
