Dogs rescued from smoke-filled townhome in southwest Houston

HOUSTON -- Firefighters helped rescue three dogs from a smoke-filled townhome in southwest Houston late Wednesday.

According to the Houston Fire Department, the fire was reported on Beechnut Street near Riptide Drive around 11:15 p.m. They made a fast attack and got the fire under control before it spread to neighboring units.

No one was home at the time, but firefighters took three dogs from the home. They treated one of the pets for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
