HOUSTON -- A dog was set on fire and burned to death in the sewer system in northwest Harris County on Saturday morning.

The burned dog was found in the sewer at the intersection of Ella Crossing and Burnell Oaks Lane.

“It appears the dog was dumped and set on fire,” said Harris County Fire Marshal investigator Scott Schoonover.

A neighbor's surveillance camera recorded the incident. The video shows a man pulling up in a dark sedan near the sewer and walking back and forth from his car to the sewer for about four minutes. That's when he lit the dog on fire.

The dog is described as a white pit bull. Neighbors said a man was trying to sell a white pit bull dog on Friday night for $100.

Anyone with any information is urged to call the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office at 281-537-5900 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
