HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A 16-year-old DUI suspect crashed head-on into two deputies on Highway 6 early Friday morning, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.

The crash happened around 3:15 a.m.

A sheriff’s office spokeswoman said the teen’s pickup truck crossed from the southbound lanes of the highway to the northbound side, hitting the deputies near W. Little York. The deputies, who were in two separate cars, were in the center lane waiting to make a turn.

The deputy in the lead car suffered injuries to his wrists. His patrol car rolled backward and struck the deputy behind him, although the second deputy was not seriously injured in the crash.

The teen driver of the pickup truck was sent to the hospital in stable condition.

Deputies carried out a mandatory blood draw and later said the young man would be charged with driving under the influence.
