HOUSTON – Deputies are looking for a suspected gunman involved in a car accident that sent three people to the hospital early Sunday morning in southwest Houston.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said that at about 5:30 a.m. a small gray car was seen chasing a sports utility vehicle heading south on Chimney Rock Road. Witnesses said that a man in the small car was seen shooting a gun at the SUV.

When the SUV came to the intersection at McHard Road, the vehicle slammed into the metal red light pole and was pinned against it, deputies said. The car was chasing the SUV so close that it veered off the road and into a field near the intersection.

The three occupants of the SUV were extracted and transported to a local hospital in serious, but stable condition, deputies said. The driver of the car was seen walking through the field shooting a gun before he fled the scene.
