HOUSTON -- Deputies said they found a large amount of cash along with three bags of marijuana in a suspect’s car after an early morning chase on the North Freeway.

The chase started around 1:15 a.m. Thursday near Kuykendahl and Ella, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy tried to stop an older white Lexus sedan for a traffic violation. Instead of stopping, officials said the driver took off northbound on the North Freeway.

During the lengthy chase, deputies said the suspect made a couple of exits and u-turns, heading both north and south on the freeway.

Eventually the suspect made one last u-turn at Little York where he hit an officer’s spikes. The Lexus came to a stop near West Mount Houston Road where the man bailed out and tried to run, but he was quickly caught.

Investigators believe the man may have dumped other drugs during the pursuit.
