HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The driver of a late model sedan was sent to the hospital Friday morning after hitting a concrete pillar in a bayou, but deputies said they had to work to get the man out of the car.
The crash happened at 1:45 a.m. on Beamer Road at Astoria Boulevard, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers said the black sedan was traveling southbound when the driver suddenly veered off the road and down the bayou’s embankment. The car hit a concrete pillar, which kept it from going further into the water.
When paramedics arrived, they said the driver was belligerent and refused to get out of the car.
Deputies finally managed to get him out, and he was sent to a hospital across the street to get checked out. He did not appear to be seriously injured.
