HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – An early morning crash Friday sent one person to the hospital in critical condition, and deputies said alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.

It was around 2 a.m. when deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office were called to Barker Cypress at Spellbrook.

They said a pickup truck was traveling south on Barker Cypress when he left the roadway at a curve and went into a grassy median. The vehicle struck a tree, critically injuring the driver.

The man was sent to Memorial Hermann hospital. There were no other injuries reported.

Deputies said they found beer bottles in the vehicle and they could smell alcohol.

It was not known if the driver was expected to live.
