HOUSTON – Street racing may be to blame for a horrific wrong-way crash that happened on the North Freeway early Friday, according to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies said a pickup truck driver was racing another vehicle on I-45 when the pickup driver stopped on the northbound side of the freeway turned around and began heading the other direction.
That is when the truck slammed into a SUV that was disabled on the side of the highway. A man and a woman were occupants in the SUV.
They and the pickup driver all survived, but were taken to the hospitals for treatment. Their conditions were not known.
Deputies do not have a description of the other vehicle that was involved in the alleged street race.
