CLEVELAND, Texas—One family is in turmoil after police said a wife allegedly shot and killed her husband in front of their children Sunday. It happened in the 22300 block of Morgan Cemetery Road in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Patrol units were dispatched shortly before 1 a.m. to the home for a disturbance call.
Sheriffs were advised by a 911 dispatcher that a husband was threatening to shoot his wife in the residence.
The second 911 call was received a few minutes later and officers were advised that multiple shots had been fired in the bedroom.
Units arrived to the scene and found Terrence Dwayne Penton Sr. in the master bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head. He had been shot by his wife, Kay, and died at the scene.
Deputies said the victim arrived home intoxicated and allegedly pointed a shotgun at his wife, threatening to kill her and himself. Deputies also said evidence collected at the scene shows the victim fired at his wife at least three times with the shotgun. The wife then returned fire with a handgun.
There were also three young children, ages 5 to 8, inside the house at the time of the shooting.
Deputies said no charges have been filed and no arrest is expected at this time, but the case will be referred to the Montgomery County Grand Jury for review.
Authorities said there is an extensive history of family violence at the residence.
