FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas –- A motorcycle rider was critically injured when he hit uneven pavement and crashed on Highway 6 overnight, DPS Troopers said.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. Thursday at Woodbridge Drive just north of the City of Sugar Land.

Troopers said the rider hit the uneven roadway where construction crews had scraped off a top layer of pavement, leaving a groove in the middle of the road.

The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, apparently couldn’t see the groove in the dark. He lost control and crashed. He was then sent to the hospital by Life Flight.

No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.

The investigation is on-going.
