HOUSTON -– A cyclist was sent to the hospital and later died after being hit by a driver in northeast Houston early Tuesday, police said.
It happened on Homestead Road just north of Parker Road around 6:45 a.m. CPR was performed on the cyclist as he was loaded into an ambulance.
Witnesses told police the accident occurred as the bicyclist tried to cross the road.
The driver, who was in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, stayed at the scene to speak with police. No charges were filed in the incident.
The Houston Police Department did not release the victim's name but said he was 27 years old.
