HOUSTON—The 10-year-old Houston girl accused of raping a 4-year-old boy was at the Juvenile Justice Center for a hearing Wednesday morning.
Houston Police confirmed the incident was reported back in April. A juvenile sex crimes investigator was assigned to the case, and the child was arrested a couple of months later and spent four days in lockup.
Her family said the incident was not a sexual assault, but rather horseplay that got out of control, and that the child is undergoing counseling.
Minister Quanell X says he hopes the charges against the girl will be reduced or dropped.
“This is nothing more than grandma with a switch, saying ‘Uh oh, don’t do that, that’s inappropriate and let me tell you why.’ That’s it. This never should have been bringing this girl in front of investigators,” the community activist said.
The child’s court date has been reset for October.
