HOUSTON—A driver was killed Sunday night after his Corvette crashed on the Beltway in southeast Houston and burst into flames, according to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies.
Gary Price was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette westbound in the 1800 block of the S. Sam Houston Parkway around 9:35 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle near the Almeda exit.
The Corvette skidded sideways to the outside lane, slammed into a metal guardrail and a concrete divider on the feeder road and burst into flames.
Price was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
The westbound feeder and the Almeda exit were closed for several hours while crews cleared the scene.
