BACLIFF, Texas — A man accused of shooting two neighbors, possibly over loud music, was jailed on felony assault charges, authorities said Monday.
Francisco Javier Narveaz, 25, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and released Monday from the Galveston County Jail on $100,000 bond, authorities said.
Narveaz was accused of shooting his neighbors, Gary Dewayne Gonzalez, 34, and Lionell Johnson, 28, in the 4900 block of Chase Stone in Bacliff, sheriff’s office Capt. Barry Cook said.
Investigators were trying to confirm reports the men were shot over loud music as part of a neighborhood feud, Cook said.
Gonzalez was shot in the chest and was in serious condition as he went into surgery Sunday night at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Cook said.
Johnson was shot in the leg and was listed in fair condition late Monday, Cook said.
A hospital spokeswoman, however, didn’t list patients by either name Monday.
"The cause of the shooting is still unclear," Cook said. "We haven’t been able to interview Gonzales or other witnesses."
Investigators are probing whether a gunshot wound to Narveaz’s upper leg was self-inflicted, Cook said.
