HOUSTON -- Deputy constables and sheriff’s deputies continued their search early Thursday for a suspect who managed to get away following a lengthy chase on the northside of town.

Officials said the chase started around 2:30 a.m. along the Eastex Freeway at Greens Road when a Harris County Pct. 3 deputy attempted to pull over a black pickup for a traffic violation. The driver allegedly refused to stop and kept going to the beltway where he went westbound.

Eventually the suspect exited the freeway and crashed into a wooded area at the end of Trickey Road. The constable following him also crashed and lost sight of the suspect.

The man managed to get away on foot. Sheriff’s deputies and Houston police joined in on the search, but the man was not located.

No serious injuries were reported.
