HOUSTON – A Subway clerk was robbed at gunpoint for the second time in two years in southwest Houston.

And once more, she was wondering if she would ever see her family again.

The clerk said at first it didn’t seem like anything was wrong, but that all changed in an instant at the restaurant located in the 13100 block of Bissonnet. Images of the suspect have been caught on camera.

Store opened at 7 a.m. with the clerk working by herself. Then the suspect walked in asking for application for a job.

He seemed like any other customer – calm and easygoing. And then suddenly he pulled a gun hidden in back waistband

“He needed to pay his rent and he had a gun and asked me to open the drawer,” the clerk said. “It was in my face, it was right there you could smell his breath that’s how close he was too me.”

The clerk doesn’t want to be identified. Thoughts raced through her mind.

“My family if I’d ever seen them again, if he was gonna hurt me, there’s nobody in the store to find me,” she said. “(He) told me to put the money in sandwich bag a Subway bag.”

“I gave him the money he told me not to panic,” she said, but the clerk did not expect what happened next.

“He went to the door to walk out and told me God bless me and left.”

But that was hardly enough to erase the experience of having a gun pointed at the clerk.

“He seemed like a nice gentleman when he walked in and then turned into a creature,” she said.

Security camera caught images of the gunman who made no attempt to disguise himself. He drove off in a grey Hyundai Santa Fe four0door hatchback with tinted windows and chrome rims.

Sadly, this is not the first time the clerk has been held up at the same Subway store.

“But the last time I was shot at three times,” she said.
