Clear Brook High School
GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas -- Extra security will be in place at Clear Brook High School in the Clear Creek Independent School District after officials said a death threat was found on a bathroom wall.
E-mails and voicemails from the school district notified parents were notified of the threat, which was directed toward a staff member.
The school’s principal said students would not be allowed to go outdoors during lunch.
Attendance on Thursday wouldn’t be taken until 10 a.m., the school said. Many parents said they wouldn’t be bringing their kids to the campus at all.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the threat.
Letter sent to parents:
February 26, 2013
We will always err on the side of caution when it comes to the safety of our students and staff at Clear Brook High School. As a precautionary measure, we have increased security at our school after a written threat was found on a restroom wall. The writing was directed toward a staff member, not a student. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Department is fully investigating this isolated incident. In the meantime, additional police officers will be on campus.
While at this point we have no reason to believe the writing is a credible threat, I want our students and families to know that we take any type of threat seriously. Please help me in talking with our students about the serious implications of making threats against a school, a student, or a staff member. In addition to disciplinary actions by the school district, the suspect will be arrested and face criminal charges.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
