HOUSTON – The city of Houston and camera operators American Traffic Solutions appeared before a federal district judge on Thursday.
The hearing was the first step in what mostly likely will be a lengthy process after Houstonians voted to oust the cameras in the October election. The city, however, still has a contract with ATS and is attempting to avoid paying the company the millions of dollars still owed.
Houston Mayor Annise Parker asked the federal judge to settle the dispute. The judge has so far ruled that the cameras must stay up, even though they are not operational.
