HOUSTON—Work crews hope to put an end to a rat problem in a downtown Houston park on Friday.

Quebeduex Park is a little green space next to the busy Family Law Center.

Workers say construction on a new deck in the park is triggering rats to scurry around.  The work started on July 24.

“Before July 24 our office had never received any complaints from anyone about rats in this park,” said Precinct 1 Parks Director Chambers Washington.

Precinct 1 is putting out more rat bait.

“An embalming agent (is) in it, so if it dies under the boardwalk no one will ever know it,” a worker said.

So even when it’s dead you won’t smell a rat.
