HOUSTON -– A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital following a chain-reaction crash on I-45 North early Wednesday.

The crash happened near the exit for Riggs Road around 4 a.m.

Houston police said evidence suggested a red car traveling southbound slammed into a slower moving car, sending it into the concrete barrier. A motorcycle rider couldn’t stop in time and then slammed into the red car.

The rider was said to be in stable condition at the hospital.

No injuries were reported in the other vehicles.

The crash shut down all but one lane for about an hour.
