HOUSTON – Firefighters were called to Our Lady of The Cedars church in southwest Houston late Sunday after a fire broke out in a storage area.

The Houston Fire Department was called to the 11900 block of Bellfort Village Drive around 10 p.m.
Firefighters said they found moderate smoke coming from the building, but when they opened the doors, they found a lot of flames. They were able to quickly contain the blaze.
HFD said the fire was in a storage area, which had a lot of goods in it in preparation for an upcoming festival.
As is standard policy with a church fire, arson investigators were called to the scene. There was no early word on what may have started the blaze.
