HOUSTON –- One man was in custody and another was on the run early Monday following a carjacking in north Houston.
It all started shortly after 3 a.m. in the 200 block of Lindale Street, according to officers with the Houston Police Department.
A man said he fell asleep in his truck in front of his home, and he woke up to two men pointing guns at him.
“He said ‘give me the truck’ and shot the gun up in the air,” said Felix Luna, the victim. “It scared me, so I just gave them the truck.”
One of the men took off in the victim's truck while the other fled in the truck they arrived in.
The suspect in the victim's truck managed to get away, but the other man led police on a 20-minute chase, officers said. At times, the suspect went the wrong way down Houston streets, police said.
Houston TranStar cameras recorded part of the chase as the suspect fled on the Hardy Toll Way. It came to an end on Frisco Street near the North Loop, and the suspect was taken into custody.
The other suspect in the victim's truck was not located.
The victim was not injured.
