HOUSTON -- Charges were filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man on July 18 in southeast Houston, police said.
Jamon Derrell Walker, 23, was charged with capital murder in the 351st state District Court, according to the Houston Police Department. He is accused in the killing of Gerald Lynn Williams, 54, of Houston.
Investigators with HPD’s Homicide Division said Johnson was discovered deceased in a church parking lot in the 3900 block Almeda Genoa at 1:50 a.m. A suspect vehicle, a black Mercedes-Benz, was observed leaving the scene.
After further investigation, police were able to identify Walker as suspect in the case. He was arrested Friday without incident while driving Williams' Mercedes.
Police said that the motive in the shooting was robbery.
