SPRING, Texas -- A California woman is accused of being a sexual predator by targeting a 12-year-old girl in Spring, allegedly sending her sexually explicit pictures, according to authorities.
Investigators said 20-year-old Alyssia Renee Perkins fell in love with the 12-year-old Spring girl over Instagram.
“That's pretty disgusting and disturbing,” said Constance Moore, a middle school parent.
Perkins lives in San Diego. Authorities said she flew half across the country to meet with the girl from Spring on Friday morning.
“It's disgusting. Not because it's girl-girl,” said Mitchell Stewart, said another parent. “This person is 20-years-old, violating a child in this manner”
Precinct 4 constables said Perkins reached out to the girl’s mom stating she was not a bad person, and she just wanted to take care of her daughter. Investigators said the two met in August and had been texting back and forth since then.
“The 20-year-old was telling the 12-year-old what she wanted to do to her, sexual acts. And professing love. The typical what we call grooming exercises,” said Sgt. Gary Spurger, with Harris County Precinct 4 constables.
Perkins is charged with two charges of online solicitation of a minor.
