HOUSTON—The custody hearing Monday for a baby girl found wrapped in a Walmart bag was uneventful because no one has stepped forward to claim the child.

“Baby Chloe” is doing well and was released to the custody of a foster family last Monday after being treated at Texas Children’s Hospital.

A woman walking her dog found the newborn on February 19 at an apartment complex located at 11111 Grant Road in Cypress. She’d been dumped near a fence.

Investigators are hoping composite sketches will help lead to the parents of the baby.

Since Monday morning’s hearing was uncontested, the judge granted Child Protective Services custody of the baby.

She will remain with her current foster family until a perspective adoptive family is chosen.

The next court hearing is March 25.  At that time the actual termination trial will be set. Usually the process takes longer, but on cases of abandonment, they fast track the termination process regarding parental rights.
