HOUSTON-- An Amber Alert has been canceled after police said the carjacking victim lied about a child being in the back seat of the vehicle.

Police said the victim originally said he was carjacked in a Walgreen's parking lot located in the 7700 block of Bellaire in southwest Houston on Sunday.

The man said around 4:15 a.m., he was in a 2000 red Lincoln Navigator when two suspects approached his vehicle.

The man told police two suspects forced him out of the vehicle at gunpoint, one with a semi-automatic pistol and the other with a shotgun.

Police were told one of the suspects drove off in the Lincoln Navigator, license plate number NFK961, and the other fled the scene in a silver Chrysler 300.

The man said his 6-year-old nephew, Kevin Williams, was asleep in the back seat of the vehicle when the suspects drove off.

He has since recanted that story.

Police said there was no child involved at all.  The victim said he thought his vehicle would be recovered quicker if he mentioned a missing child.

Police are now deciding whether to pursue charges against the victim.
