HOUSTON – A body was discovered Sunday afternoon after firefighters were called to put out a car fire in east Houston, police said.

At 2:30 p.m., the Houston Fire Department was called out to the 200 block of North Wayside where a van was on fire behind a building belonging to a trucking company, police said.

After the fire was extinguished, a body was found inside of the vehicle. Investigators believe that the victim is an employee at the trucking company who was trying to put out the fire.

As the victim tried to reach for a fire extinguisher from the backseat, the vehicle exploded killing the employee.
