HOUSTON -- A Bellaire police squad car went up in flames seconds after the officer got out of the car Tuesday night and it was all caught on dash cam video.

Corporal Douglas Clawson was on his way to help Houston police officers with a man resisting arrest around 9:30 p.m. You can hear officers struggling with the suspect on dash cam video.

“One of the officers told me, ‘Hey I think your shop is on fire.’ I turn around and there are flames rolling out from the hood of my car," said Clawson.

From the dash cam video you can see Clawson calmly walk back to his patrol car.

"My unit is on fire, my unit is on fire," said Clawson.

The officers tried to put the fire out, but only made it worst.

The car was totaled.

"I’m thankful I can go home to my family,” said Clawson.

The fire was under investigation and no one was hurt.
