HOUSTON—A Beaumont man is facing charges after police say he tried to buy two Bentleys from a Houston dealership with a fake check.
According to investigators, Walter Durrom Allen went into the Post Oak Motors dealership on Friday with a $500,000 cashier’s check, saying he wanted to purchase the two luxury vehicles.
The owner of the dealership was suspicious, so he called police. The officers told him to go ahead with the sale.
As Allen, 27, walked out of the dealership with the keys, police surrounded him and took him into custody.
He was charged with felony theft and was being held Monday on $30,000 bond.
