BAYTOWN, Texas -- Baytown police are investigating an attempted abduction after a 12-year-old said she was grabbed by a man in front of her home.

It happened Friday around 8:30 p.m. near N. Main St. and Texas Ave.
It’s an evening Caitlynn Rascoe would like to forget.
“When he first pulled up he’s like, ‘Hey baby, come here,’ and he’s like, ‘Hey, sweet pea,’” she said.
The 7th-grader said she walked outside to get something out of her father’s truck that was parked along the street.
“He’s like, ‘Come here, come here,’ and like, he was so close to me and I couldn’t move,” she said.
Caitlynn said the man was in a white car and had a passenger with him. The driver reached out of his car window and grabbed her.
“He had me and my arm was like in his car and I just took my other hand and I was just hitting his arm," said Caitlynn. "And when he finally released me I ran inside and I was yelling, ‘Daddy, Daddy.'"
Caitlynn and her parents jumped in their car and followed the suspects. They lost the car for a few minutes before finding it again.
“I know those are the people that tried to take her the other night,” said Caitlynn’s mother, Cindy Dempsey. “It makes me feel horrible because I feel like I can’t protect her and the nightmares she’s having, I can’t stop them.”
Baytown police caught up with a white car with two men inside and took the men into custody. The Harris County District Attorney’s office did not accept charges, because police said the men did not match Caitlynn’s description of the suspects. Police said there were also other discrepancies, leading them to believe the men were not involved in the attempted abduction.
“There’s no timeline on this,” said 11 News Legal Expert Gerald Treece. “The government not only has a duty, but a responsibility to investigate and to get it right. So I don’t think it’s anything uncommon about what the district attorney’s office is doing in this case."
Baytown police said the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Baytown Police Department.
