FRIENDSWOOD — Authorities said a bat found at Friendswood High School last week tested positive for rabies.

There’s no indication that the bat, found on the campus Thursday on an outside sidewalk near the band hall, ever came in contact with any students or staff at the high school, district spokeswoman Karolyn Gephart said.

Officials sent the bat to the Houston Department of Health and Human Services for testing. That department serves as a regional testing lab for rabies.
