HOUSTON—The baby left outside a northeast Houston fire station earlier this month will stay in foster care for now.
That was decided in a hearing Thursday morning.
Investigators said the biological father, who didn’t know the mother had left the 8-month-old baby, does want custody and the mother supports that.
However, the baby will not be handed over until Child Protective Services checks everything out.
The baby boy was abandoned on Aug. 12 at Fire Station 39 located in the 5800 block of Pickfair. The child’s mother and father live less than a mile away from the station.
The child’s father said the woman had been acting strange since giving birth to the baby, and that she lied to him the day she dropped him off.
