BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – A community near Alvin was left stunned Friday after a local family was robbed by two men claiming to be police officer in a car disguised as a patrol unit, deputies said.

According to the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office, the robbery happened around 3 a.m. in 1000 block of County Road 147. It’s not a place where you’d expect a violent home invasion.

Investigators said the armed robbers posed as police as they terrorized the family inside.

“They had maybe a Crown Victoria with a red and blue police light on the top of the car. When they pulled in front of the house and turned the lights on, when they busted in through the door they started announcing themselves as police officers,” BCSO Investigator Ulysses Velez said.

The man and woman inside were forced onto the floor and tied up - their children were sleeping in bedrooms just a few feet away, deputies said.

The robbers took off with cash, jewelry and a pick-up truck, deputies said.

The victim is very shaken up and too afraid to speak on camera. He said he wishes he never left his front gate open last night. He now has a big mark on his forehead, because the suspects pistol-whipped him.

“My daughter looked out and there was a car in our driveway and they just took off,” Jenny Hendricks, a neighbor, said.

A neighbor two doors down thinks the suspects may have pulled into her place first – deputies don’t know why they targeted this particular home.
