HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Authorities were searching for a man Sunday evening they say escaped from a correctional facility in northeast Harris County.
The incident happened around 6:15 p.m. at the Harris County Community Supervision and Correction Facility.
According to police, two men jumped a razor wire fence and took off into the woods. One of the suspects was caught a short time later, but the other managed to escape.
Authorities said officers searched for a few hours before finding tracks that led to a swamp.
Police said they believe the suspect planned the escape and had friends pick him up. It is believed they were heading for San Antonio.
Once authorities found where the prints ended, they called off the ground search.
Police said they plan to file charges and are getting details of the escape plans from the suspect that was caught.
Authorities said the suspect at large is an 18-year-old who was doing time for assault bodily injury on a public servant and retaliation.
