HOUSTON – A family’s dream of opening up a new doughnut shop in Houston may have to wait.

They had recently moved into an apartment complex in the 10800 block of Legacy Park Drive in northwest Harris County. All five of them were from Cambodia.

On Friday, Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies said four men forced their way into the apartment, and robbed them of tens of thousands of dollars in cash.

A couple, ages 55 and 53, were the only ones home at the time. Their son, Sang Net, said the bad guys knocked first and then rushed in after the couple came to the door.

Once inside, they allegedly tied up and pistol whipped his parents. Sang said he has no idea how the family became targets and does not know how he will ever afford the business now.

All four robbers ran off and no arrests have been made.

The couple was treated at the hospital and they are expected to be OK.
