HOUSTON—A man crashed his car after fireworks in his back seat exploded while he was driving. It happened in the 18,900 block of KZ Road in northwest Harris County.

The Rosehill Fire Department responded to the scene around 10 p.m. Friday about a fireworks-related accident.
Authorities said witnesses at the scene reported that fireworks went off inside a moving vehicle when a lit punk (a smoldering stick used for lighting fireworks fuses) was placed in a bag of unused fireworks in the back seat.
While the vehicle was travelling down the road, several of the unused fireworks ignited going off inside the vehicle causing the driver to lose control and crash into another vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence.
The passenger of the vehicle sustained minor burns from the fireworks. He was treated and released at the scene by EMS.
The incident was investigated by the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.
