JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas -- The children of a Pearland couple killed in a massive Thanksgiving Day collision last year on Interstate 10 in Jefferson County have reached a settlement in a civil lawsuit.

Debra and Vincent Leggio died in the accident. Their children hired Walter Umphrey, Joe Jamail and Chip Ferguson to represent them.

A spokesman for the lawyers told KFDM in Beaumont they reached a settlement late Monday afternoon with the truck driver and trucking company that were sued. The spokesman said both sides agreed not to reveal the terms of the settlement but that the plaintiffs lawyers were "very happy" with the outcome.

The children sued for damages following the Nov. 22, 2012 crash, but the lawsuit didn't reveal how much money the were seeking.

More than 100 vehicles collided in heavy fog on Interstate 10 near Hamshire Road. Dozens of people were hurt. The Leggios, who were in their 60's, died when a truck slammed into their car.

During the trial, attorneys for the truck driver and trucking company maintained fog was the sole cause of the accident.
