HOUSTON -- An open records lawsuit has been filed by a group urging voters to reject Houston’s use of cameras that photograph drivers illegally going through intersections.

Houston voters on Tuesday will consider whether to retain the dozens of cameras in service the past four years.

A statement from attorney Randall Kallinen, representing bail bondsman Michael Kubosh and others opponents of the operation, says the lawsuit was filed Monday because the city has refused to release monthly reports on accident rates.

Kubosh, who co-founded "Citizens Against Red Light Cameras," has said that cameras have never been proven to save one life.

City attorney David Feldman did not immediately return a message for comment to The Associated Press.
