LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas—An Arkansas man was arrested Thursday after being caught in Liberty County with 1,000 tabs of ecstasy, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.

Tommy L. Vaughns, 33, was charged with manufacture and distribution of a controlled substance; a first-degree felony.

An LCSO Criminal Interdiction Unit stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Hwy 59 and Hwy 105 in the northern part of the county around noon.

The driver’s suspicious conduct and his various explanations as to why he was in Texas led deputies to search the vehicle. During the search, the deputy found over 1000 tabs of the drug bundled and duct taped hidden in a “boom box” in the rear of the vehicle.

He was placed in the Liberty County jail and awaits his appearance before a judge this morning. Vaughns is presently on parole from Arkansas for distribution of cocaine.

It is estimated the street value of the “K-Pacs” of over 1000 ecstasy tabs is over $5,000.
