LA MARQUE, Texas—The name of the film is “Dreams from my Real Father” and it is scheduled to be seen next week at the Texas AgriLife Center in La Marque.
The anti-President Obama movie gives a different account of his past.
The film claims his father was a communist author and his mother was a sexual predator who allegedly posed for nude pictures.
“This sheds a whole new light on a potential past that the President had,” Precinct 4 Commissioner Ken Clark said. “I think people need to know about it.”
Clark makes no secret that he is a conservative Republican and that he found the film enlightening. That is why he took a few hundred dollars from his campaign chest to schedule a private screening.
But the county’s Precinct 3 Constable Derrick Rose, a Democrat, feels the choice was in poor taste.
The AgriLife building sits next to Galveston County’s Wayne Johnson Center, which was named after a well-loved civil rights activist.
Speaking off camera, the constable told KHOU 11 News he would have a problem with any film shown on county property that was against a U.S. President.
He said he does not object to the commissioner’s right to view the film, but said he would prefer that it be screened at a different location out of respect.
