HOUSTON—Several gators were spotted Tuesday hanging out near a northeast Houston neighborhood and shopping center.

People driving on West Lake Houston Parkway near Beltway 8 reported seeing at least four alligators shortly before noon.

The gators live in a pond near the Summerwood subdivision.

Workers say they come out to sun themselves, but don’t bother anyone.

"Me and my coworker walked over there and seen two little baby gators," Andrew Martinez said. "If somebody’s walking right there, you know, that gator could be sitting right there on the edge and just get ‘em."

Some people got nervous when the gators crawled toward the H-E-B parking lot, and they called police.

Officers shooed them back to the pond.
