MISSOURI CITY, Texas—Missouri City police are warning residents to be on the lookout for a group of suspects who impersonated police during a home invasion early Thursday.

The homeowner and his girlfriend were in bed around midnight when they heard someone trying to kick in the front door of the home in the 4600 block of Norwich Way at Birkenhead Circle.

The homeowner retrieved his weapon, ran to the top of the stairs and looked over the railing. He said that is when three to four men wearing what appeared to be police uniforms burst through the door. The suspects yelled they were the police, but the homeowner demanded to see badges.

The suspects ran up the stairs and began to scuffle with the homeowner, but the homeowner fought them off. One of the suspects hit the homeowner in the head with the butt of a gun, before they bolted. The homeowner chased the suspects outside and opened fire.

The homeowner does not believe he hit any of the suspects, but said he may have hit the older-model SUV the suspects jumped into when they fled the scene.

The homeowner was treated for minor bumps and bruises.
