HOUSTON –- Police said an alert neighbor and a tow truck driver helped lead to the arrest of a man who kicked in the front door of a southeast Houston home early Friday.
The incident was reported at 610 Medina Street not far from the 610 Loop and Highway 225 around 3:15 a.m.
A neighbor across the street from the break-in called 911 after he saw a man kick in the front door of an elderly woman’s home. The suspect got spooked and ran to his truck to speed away, but a nearby wrecker driver heard the emergency call on the police radio and spotted the suspect’s truck.
The wrecker followed the truck and led police to Gibbons Street where the suspect jumped out and tried to run away on food. Houston police managed to catch the suspect and took him into custody.
Police said he faces charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and burglary of a residence.
The resident who initially called 911 said the elderly woman was not home at the time of the break-in.
