HOUSTON—An Aldine Independent School District bus driver is under investigation for allegedly kicking students off his bus and leaving them on the side of the road.

The students were headed to Compass Alternative School, which is for Aldine ISD students with disciplinary problems.

The district said at about 6:15 a.m. the bus driver got a frantic phone call from his wife, saying their home was being broken into, and she was worried for her safety and the safety of a 4- year-old grandchild.

At that time, the bus was reportedly in the Kenswick subdivision located in Humble, near Highway 59 and FM 1960.

The driver asked the nine students on board the bus to get off, called for a back up bus, and then left, investigators said.
