ALVIN, Texas—A fire destroyed a home, a car, and even a small airplane late Wednesday, Brazoria County officials said.

The home was located on FM 1462 near Savannah Plantation. It caught fire around 10:30 p.m., according to the Brazoria County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Firefighters from Alvin responded to the blaze, working to keep the fire down, but the flames spread quickly and destroyed the home.

A family was home at the time, but they all got out safely.

Officials said the property’s private driveway serves as an airplane runway for about eight large homes, and a car and a small plane also burned in the house fire.

Brazoria County officials are investigating the cause.

Fire crews from Manvel, Iowa Colony, and Rosharon joined the Alvin Fire Department in trying to contain the blaze.
