HOUSTON -- After more than 12 hours, firefighters were still battling a three-alarm fire that burned an abandoned apartment complex on Houston’s northside.
The fire was reported near Airline Drive around 7:20 p.m. Sunday. As of 7 a.m. Monday flames were still shooting from the complex.
High winds and cold temperatures made it difficult for firefighters to put out the blaze.
Thankfully no injuries were reported, but inbound traffic on the North Freeway was slow due to rubbernecking, and the southbound frontage road was blocked by crews from the Houston Fire Department.
It wasn’t immediately clear how the fire started.
