Motorcyclist killed in crash on Southwest Freeway

An accident involving a big rig, a motorcycle, and one other vehicle shut down the Southwest Freeway near Newcastle on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Witnesses said the motorcyclist was weaving in and out of traffic before he clipped the side of the big rig and lost control, according to Houston police.

HOUSTON -– An accident involving a big rig, a motorcycle, and one other vehicle shut down the Southwest Freeway near Newcastle late Tuesday morning.

Witnesses said the motorcyclist was weaving in and out of traffic before he clipped the side of the big rig and lost control, according to Houston police.

The 35-year-old man was thrown from his green Kawasaki and pronounced dead at the scene.

All northbound traffic on the freeway’s mainlanes were forced to exit.

The freeway remained closed for more than two hours.

The victim's name has not been released.
