HARRIS COUNTY, Texas –- Deputies in northwest Harris County are on the lookout for the suspects who smashed into a food store and stole its ATM.

It was reported at the Champions Mart / Cajun Stuff store in the 6400 block of FM 1960 early Thursday.

Officials said around 3:30 a.m. someone backed a silver Ford F250 into the front of the store, smashing in the front glass and knocking down the ATM. The suspect or suspects then loaded the ATM into the back of the truck and sped away.

Houston police later found the truck abandoned along Highway 59, deputies said.

The store’s owner said the crime was captured on surveillance video, which may be released to the public at a later time.

A second smash-and-grab was reported a short time later on the other side of town. The crooks in that case broke into a Valero store near Reliant Park but failed to get the ATM.
